You asked, we responded! Among the top requests for new activities were physical well-being programs as well as programming during hours for our working members.

We are excited to announce the six-week pilot of our new Saturday morning fitness program for our faith community. Open to all ages and all fitness levels, this group class will focus on core strength, balance and flexibility.

The licensed fitness instructor-led class will be start on Saturday, March 4, 9:10a – 10:30a. It will be held in the Francis Xavier Warde school’s 4th floor gym. There will be a nominal fee of $5 per class (cash only) to be paid onsite before each class to cover our costs. Just bring yourself, an exercise mat (e.g. yoga mat) and resistance bands.

Our Holy Name Cathedral Fitness Class will be led by Rosario "Rio" Militello. Having studied Exercise Science at DePaul University, Rosario is a fitness floor supervisor at a local gym, a personal trainer, and interned at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC).

Rosario's philosophy is to utilize his skills and passion for overall well-being to help people achieve their fitness goals and have the confidence to live their everyday life. Rosario is a licensed trainer.

FAQs

Are there minimum age or fitness level requirements to participate in this class?

This class is open to all adults. We welcome all of our parishioners to participate in this new Saturday morning activity, no matter what your fitness level is.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Holy Name Cathedral parking lot is available for parking. If there is a guard on duty, just let them know you are participating in the Fitness class in the FXW gym.

What do I need to do before the class?

Each participant will be required to complete a brief waiver form. It will be emailed to you before the first class. Please complete and bring it with you to the first class.

What else do I need to bring to the class?

We ask everyone to bring their own exercise mat (e.g. yoga mat) and resistance bands with handles. You can pick bands that are appropriate for your strenghth and goals. Not sure what color bands to buy, check out a quick guide at http://tinyurl.com/jkal7es.

How long is the class?

The class will run one hour every Saturday from 9:30a - 10:30a for six weeks. PLEASE NOTE THE FIRST SESSION ON MARCH 4 WILL START 20 MINUTES EARLY AT 9:10a.
